Vodafone TV service launches in Ireland

21-01-2016Vodafone has launched a new television service in Ireland. Vodafone will sell a basic bundled broadband and TV package for €70 a month, while Vodafone TV Plus bundle comes with 35 additional channels and at a price of €80 per month. Both packages are initially offered for €40 the first 6 months. The Vodafone TV service comes with a restart function, enabling customers to watch missed programmes that were broadcast during the previous 7 days. The Vodafone TV remote control has a dedicated Netflix button that gives users direct access to the Netflix App. The Vodafone TV Everywhere app, that is also available in The Netherlands, allows customers to watch programmes across devices.


Sky Go gets a brand new design

20-01-2016Sky has introduced a more intuitive design for its mobile app and web service Sky Go. The new design has come available today for the online homepage and the Sky Go Adroid app for mobile phone users. The Sky Go iOS app update is expected to come available in February. Sky Go enables Sky subscribers to watch on-demand content on mobile devices, games consoles, Mac and PC. Around 70 live channels together with catch up TV content can be viewed on the Sky Go app.



BBC iPlayer most viewed on Connected TVs

08-01-2016Connected TVs were the most popular device to access the BBC iPlayer over the Christmas holiday period. The BBC says that over the two-week long holiday period, access through connected TVs was up by 32% when compared to the same period in 2014. In all Connected TVs accounted for 38% of unique browsers, followed by 24% on tablets, 22% on computers and 17% on mobiles.


Netflix launches in 130 more countries

07-01-2016At CES 2016 in Las Vegas Netflix has announced that it has made available its video on demand service in 130 new countries around the world. Following this launch Netflix has become a global player. In the UK the Netflix streaming video service is available on almost every connected device via a Netflix app, such as Smart TVs, game consoles, tablets, smartphone and Virgin Media TiVo service.


Sky streams live to Xbox

09-12-2015Sky has added TV channels and catch up content from Sky Go to the Xbox. The service is available to Sky Go Extra or Sky Multiscreen customers. Xbox One customers will need to download the app from the Xbox Store through Xbox Live and upgrade to Sky Go Extra for a two-month free trial.


Virgin Media Ireland introduces Replay & Startover TV

02-12-2015Subscribers to Virgin Media’s Horizon TV service in Ireland can replay seven days of programmes by simply scrolling back in their TV Guide. This also allows viewers who have missed the start of a show to replay from the beginning.
